Chapter 3: Part 3

About Emily

Impossible Standards…

Editing demand has grown over the years, so three years ago I began the hunt for another editor to join the JD Book Services team. It took several rounds of applicant hunting to be able to find someone who met my standard, but Emily matched what I was looking for and then some. Since that time, she’s exceeded expectations and has authors regularly clamoring to fill her schedule every month. – Josiah

Polish it Up

As a nerdy kid who read widely and voraciously, I built up a huge love and admiration for writing as a craft. Storytelling has always fascinated me, and I love helping writers construct a story that compels, inspires, and challenges readers. After studying history and English in college, I came to JDBS as an apprentice editor in the fall of 2021 and refined my editing skills by learning from Josiah and Cameron.

My goal as an editor is to not only show you where you can improve word choice and sentence structure, but to leave you with the tools to help your story resonate with your reader and help you develop as a writer. I want to make my thought process and how I evaluate a word, a sentence, a passage, or a story clear so that you can improve with each new book you write, while still ensuring that your unique style and voice comes through. It’s a joy to be part of JDBS, and if you’re in need of an editor to give you that push and polish to make your story the best it can be, I’d love to work with you!
